"The city of Wilmington opened its municipal building in 1992, replacing the original 1878 building. A cornerstone of the former municipal building was laid on May 25, 1877, and the structure was completed in 1878 at a cost of $20,000--small change compared to the cost of its replacement, $2.95 million. Designated an ""Ohio Main Street Community,"" Wilmington continues to grow with capital improvements, including road upgrades. Developers relocated and built a new Kroger store while revitalizing and rehabilitating the city's first shopping center. In turn, Kroger donated $20,000 to the city's parks and recreation department, according to Mayor David Raizk."
