Map of the Area

"Small-town flavor with a big-town taste is how Troy Mayor Michael Beamish describes his favorite place. "We live in a very diverse and very active community," Beamish said. "Troy has a lot to offer both young and old alike. I truly believe with all the things we do in Troy, civic pride is city wide." From elementary-school age children to those well into their retirement years, Troy has a vast number of volunteers and officials that work together to promote the quality of life within the city. "We try to develop people and get them involved early," Beamish said. "It all happens because of the leadership and the willingness to work in partnership together. Leisure activities within the city limits are also a big draw to the city of Troy. Recreational opportunities have been expanded with the Troy Aquatic Park, located between our Troy Memorial Stadium and Troy's Hobart Arena. Duke Park features many sporting fields and additional parks that have walking and recreational trails. Two golf courses, one public and one private, are located within the city. Every residential development throughout the city has planned greenspace or a park. Cultural activities include the Troy Strawberry Festival held the first weekend in June each year. Nearly 200,000 visitors come to the downtown and levee area, and many community-oriented non-profit groups benefit economically from the event. Another cultural event is the Festival of Nations, which celebrates the diversity of the city. Each year, the festival held in August features a different nation. This year will be Ireland. Last year's featured country was the South Slovak nations, and the year before, Italy was featured."
