"Known as "a progressive community for farmers, families and friends," the village of Jamestown is working to attract new or expanding businesses while maintaining its friendly, small-town atmosphere. "Jamestown is expanding in business and residences, but I also believe that we are maintaining our small-town atmosphere," said Mark Ferrell, council president and acting mayor. Jamestown Properties purchased a vacated bank building downtown, and the renovated property is now filled with The Costume Shop, the Portrait Gallery and Jamestown Antiques Store. Two Realtors opened private offices downtown, and four more businesses new to the area are BubbleMan, Subway, a Touch of Class and Ferrell's Hometown Sports. Jamestown has also seen residential growth. A new development, close to the high school, is in the planning stages. The project could bring more than 100 new homes to the area when completed. "
