"Parks improvements have included the addition of four new soccer fields and increased parking at Ward Field, as well as new baseball fields with Little League-approved lighting at Centennial Park. The city has seen a boom in retail and commercial development as several restaurants and retail stores have opened within the past six months. With the completion of Hoke Plaza, Englewood has enjoyed the opening of Dippin' Dots Ice Cream, LaRosa's Piazza, Hollywood Video, Complete PetMart, Supercuts, Wright-Patt Credit Union, Rick's Carpet Outlet, EB Games and Sprint. "It's an exciting time to see new retail and businesses popping up all over the city," Mayor Mike Bowers said. "They provide more opportunities for our residents. And many other retail and commercial businesses are exploring options to locate within the city limits. We hope the success of 2006 will continue into 2007. Community activities include the annual Neighborhood Garage Sales where bargain shoppers find a variety of goods. Each year a city neighborhood is featured. Residents in the selected neighborhood can hold a garage sale without a permit fee and advertise the sale through a joint, city-sponsored advertisement."
